Sapere Method is an evidenced based sensory food education program that invites children to explore food through the five senses. It maintains that teaching children ( or adults!) about food shouldn’t simply be telling them which foods are ‘healthy’ or ‘unhealthy’, or prescribing quantities of fruit and vegetables to eat each day. Instead we hope to foster childrens’ natural curiosity by giving them dynamic opportunities to touch, taste, smell, listen and talk about a variety of foods and through these adventures to widen their preferences in a healthy direction. The long term benefits include respectful communication of preferences, reduced incidence of disordered eating and less fear/rejection of unfamiliar foods.
The classes are in a cycle of 5 senses and children from ages 6-10 can join us at any time.
Degustation classes can also be arranged for the classroom and are a wonderful way to engage children across the disciplines.
